Question: If it's 'fundamental' (as in your own words), then how can you
be opposed to it?

If air and water are 'fundamental' to life support - do you find yourself opposed to them as well?

Hey, pull this on somebody else. See if you get any takers who will take the trouble to define "fundamentalism" for you.

Excuse me, but I think you are confusing 'fundamentalism' with 'extremism'...

Bruce Murray,
FACSNET Managing Editor, wrote:
Fundamentalism defined

Antoun [Dr. Richard Antoun, a professor of anthropology at Binghamton University - State University of New York] defines fundamentalism as a particular world-view and ethos (an emotional attitude toward the world) characterized by the following attributes:

The quest for purity in an impure world.
A struggle of good against evil.
Protest, outrage, certainty and fear.
Adherence to traditions.
A stand against the rapid change of the 20th century.
Opposition to the ideology of modernism.
Opposition to the secularization of society.
Infusing daily and leisure activities with religious meaning.

Antoun said there is no perfect fundamentalist who embodies all of these elements of fundamentalism. A fundamentalist might have some of these characteristics, but not all.

He certainly sounds like a true secular humanist...I though you were into the idea of sharing a variety of opinions.

If you were to ask Jesus what He might have thought were 'fundamentalist' viewpoints of His teachings...

well - I think you would find some similarities...but He would add a perspective that would be - I'm certain - 'out of this World'

Probably why he said that only one who is 'born of the Spirit' (born again)
can even hope to fathom Spiritual truths.

Sounds Hindu. I thought you only quoted the bible?

George is worse than both of them put together. At least Saddam is a pretty fair poet--from what I have read in Spanish translation--and Putin appears to be intelligent.

Bush's primary skill appears to be falling off barstools. Oops--forgot about choking on pretzels, LYING and ELECTORAL FRAUD.

Don't kid a kidder. You couldn't carry on a serious conversation if your life depended on it--much less a serious agreement.

I see--Putin has been exposed as a poisoner. In what court has he been charged?

The news today indicates that the opposition presidential candidate in the Ukraine is being subjected to physical examinations.

You put the cart before the horse.

I rest my case about your lack of seriousness.

Even when Bush is lying, he is transparent. The guy is too stupid to be otherwise. For your God's sake, the guy's IQ is less than half of mine. Not that it's any big deal being twice as smart as Bush. Sortof like being twice as smart as a chicken....

Last thing I read on it this morning was that it has been confirmed that Yusenchenko (too lazy to copy and paste hte correct spelling) was poisoned...dioxin overdose...they even cited soup as a possible delviery vehicle.

We have gone back to the dark ages. Or did we ever leave them?
