The only evidence I have Paulie is your post.

Are you referring to a certain president? Media? Jounalists? Priests? Terrorists? Disposable diapers? Billy Joel has a song for this...he sang it better than I can

Incidentally, Guy, have you noticed if the Moonlady is hiding in some dark and obscure postings...I'm suprised I haven't heard from her by now...

Maybe she thinks I'm just not worth the effort anymore...

You are probably right. However, with bait like that, the Raven is sure to swoop in on such a tasty morsel.

Do you have a chance to explore indigenous cultures while in (El Salvador is it? - where are you?)? Have you looked into pre-Columbian views and rituals regarding creation?

I've had the chance to visit some of the 'minor' ruins - a lot of temple/ritual worship as you would expect...blood sacrifices and the like...

Some of the ancient pottery craft is nice...but probably used as blood-holding vessels as often as not.

Lots of 'fetishes'...gnome-like little creatures in various states of nakedness...pregancy (fertility gods?)

One can actually pick these up here - authentic and all - dug up by some
farmer or villager looking for an extra dollar or two...I've had my chances.

Mexico City, and of course, most of southern Mexico, offers a great view into some of the rituals and beliefs, many of which attached importance to aspects of nature - Rain, Storms, Fertility/birth, coming of age, Harvest, etc, etc. I am struggling to recall which group...Huichol, maybe? that has a similar creation story to Catholics/Christians, that of a man being assembled from earth.

Yesterday, Mexico celebrated/mourned Dia de la Virgen de Guadelupe, which if you are not familiar, marks the spot and date of a miraculous vision of the virgin Mary over 450 years ago. Up to 7 million people made the pilgrimage to the Basilica in north Mexico City.

Certainly not familiar to me...not that I'm that interested...or interested at all...

reminds me of a woman selling an old grilled cheese sandwich on E-Bay because she saw an 'image of the Virgin Mary' on ots marbled surface -
but hey...its something like fifty years old and hasn't turned mouldy yet so...who knows!

I think people actually bid a lot of money on that grilled cheese too.

Just goes to show how great deceptions will snare the gullible.

Paulie,

The moonraven has one final comment on this thread:

You have just made the most tasteless insult you could possible make in a Latin American culture in regard to the majority religion.

It was right up there with your infantile comment on another thread about the Tlhuac lynching stemming from too much tv.

I believe you are a 14 year old psychizophrenic. And dangerous.

How could it be a 'tasteless' comment when it was a grilled cheese sandwich?

Guy - when are you finally - once for all - going to dump that (rather) stupid hat!

I hope you're not planning to wear it until Christmas!

What about the various references in the Bible to blood (human) sacrifices of which God approved? I'm sure you're familiar with the references in Genesis, Exodus, 2nd Samuel, and 1st and 2nd Kings among others. Do those bother you, too?

Yet again what you're saying makes no sense to me. Half the time you claim the Scriptures need to be interpreted and applied in their original form, and half the time you want to change their interpretion and application to make them up to date. Old blood sacrifices of the Bible don't bother you, but the old blood sacrifices of indigenous peoples of Latin America bother you. It's really difficult to figure out your logic.

You honestly have no idea how insulting and offensive many of your comments are, do you? Do you express these views in the classroom?
