Er, not being the most computer literate of people i'd like to ask how you put an image under your name? Can't find anything (that makes sense) in the FAQs.

Cheers,

Matt

Here's a general idea how to do it. Your best bet is to have at least two browser windows open so you can go to and fro as needed.

1.) Find an image (a/k/a avatar) that you want to use. There is a maximum size allowed:

Quote:
Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB.

To determine whether the size of the image you've selected meets the size requirements, right click on the image, then left click on Properties.

If the image is too big, you will have to reduce it before place it in your Profile.

2.) Put the image on the internet.

Some suggestions are:

http://villagephotos.com
http://photobucket.com

3.) Find the internet address for your image - without including the rest of the page.

To do that, open the page which stores the image, right click on the image, then left click on Properties. You will see Address (URL)= (an http://somethingsomethingaddress. Highlite the address, then right click, then left click Copy.

4.) Log into your Dave's account and open your Profile. At the bottom of the page, you will see:

Quote:
Link to off-site Avatar:
Enter the URL of the location containing the Avatar image you wish to link to.

Paste the address you've copied into the blank space, then click Submit.

Okay, so this works particularly well with Windows. If you're use another operating system, this may not work, and if that's the case, someone else will need to answer your question.

The procedure for a mac will be identical to a pc -- apart from the actual button clicking involved in finding the image's location on the internet. Which I beleive is as simple as click-holding on the displayed image and then choosing one of the available pop-up options.

Note that on many forums this process is a lot easier as they will store the image for you. But on more popular forums you can generally forget about that feature.

Er, yes it was too big but what i'd like to know is how some people have huge photos and drawings under their names???? Surely they exceed the permitted size?? No?

Feliz navidad a todos, matt

The problem is your avatar isn't available where you stored it. Try putting the image elsewhere; http://villagephotos.com is pretty good.

You're almost there. Wink

Not! You only recently asked.

Try here: http://home.earthlink.net/~j_engel/optimal.html

You will find a list of places to try in your latest quest.
