Hi! I have been told of Vietnamese immigrations officers are not letting people into the country if they have a Visa stamped as category "D". Also, what do you tellthem if you have a plane ticket for 3 months with only a 1 month visa? do you tell them that you are looking for work and plan on changing to a business visa or do you tell them that yo uwill leave the countryand then re-enter to fly home? |

a category D visa is allowed to enter the country, but you are not allowed to renew it. If you have a C category visa (3 month visa ) you can renew it while you are in the country. THis is a fact. I am from the U.S. |

How do you know what you will get? You just mail the form to the Consulate and see what they give you. There is no place to designate which one you want. Am I missing something? Thanks! |

On the form it will ask for the length of time, from when you want to enter the country to when you will leave the country. THat is how they grant your visa status.
If you cannot apply in person perhaps you should write them a short, concise note about the length of your stay in Vietnam. THat should take care of your visa situation.
there are three types of visas to enter Vietnam as far as I know for sure in the U.S.
1. 15 day visa "D" class; non renewable.
2. 90 day visa "C" class; renewable while in hte country.
3. 180 day visa "B" class for business people.
I could not apply for my visa this time in person so I sent them the application and 2 pictures and a photo of my passport page, and one week later they sent me my visa confirmation paper with my photo picture on it. It works just like a visa sticker when you apply in person. |
