International House Katowice is a very good school, great for new teachers they have loads of input and the locals are friendly. polands damn cold but u get to go skiing. katowice is ugly but it's close to loads of really cool places. all the ih schools in this area are connected and r good!

While my impression of IH is generally positive, I'm appalled at the lack of criticism from the TEFLers in the forum.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it now correct to use, "R u alright?" and similar constructions in textual environments?

Punctuation isn't a strong point for me, but I'd like to exclaim that Silesia is generally a nice place, even if the architects were better Communists than students of their craft.

You answer your own question - if there is no objection to the use of such langauge, then presumably it is 'correct'. The point being that there is no authority as to what is 'correct' language, only the community judgement. Equally, there is no one 'textual environment', but different text types with different levels of accepted formality.

Of course, some would be appalled by use of, say, the word 'blast' in a textual environment!

Back on topic, I think it's fair to say that, especially for teacher development, I can think of few schools that come anywhere close to IH Katowice. However, those who seek an undemanding job in a pretty town will not find it suitable.

And neither will those who want a job where they are given a reasonable share of the profits that the school makes.
