Lee,

Great application letter, but I think I deserve the postition of Head Paster, I mean poster.

I am drop dead studley handsome. This is important in China. I'm also foolish enough to have served for not 1, but 2 EF's in over a two year period. This also means I'm humble beyond belief.

Some would say I'm stupid, but I don't care, because I've got looks, and I care about people. I've warned those interested in serving EF by recommending electro-shock therapy, frontal lobotomies, LSD, and even repititively reading ChinaMovieMagic's posts ad nauseum. If that still doesn't work, I offer to post on various threads, and even provide my e-mail for the naive and emotionally challenged.

Some think that brutally handsome men are conceited, but my hatred for EF is only matched by my humility, rugged good looks, and stupidity at serving 2 EF's.

But, I sure looked good while I was doing it.

AND, I speak fluent Mandarin. Do you know this phrase: "Cao Ni"?

In the words of the immortal Johnny Paycheck: "Take this job and shove it !

P.S. The skin condition must be a bi tch.

Tom:

Well, I guess I'm not that good-looking but some women think I am sexy and appealing in a Tony Soprano sort of way (or maybe they just asked me if I was related to Tony Soprano because I was in the garbage disposal business; honestly, I can't remember since the last episode of DTs).

Anyway, I have a lost a few pounds since coming to China from having to climb up all these damn stairs. Just the other day I was able to fit into some of my old 56-inch waist pants - so I'm looking good. And besides, what I lack in appearance I more than make up for in self-awareness. And Colleen is working with me on jazzing up my wardrobe a bit.

But anyway, I don't think I want the job anymore. I was told I would have to get a new T-shirt and I that I would have to lose the hat. I don't mind changing T-shirts - this one is getting a bit old (I've had it since high school) but I could never give up my lucky-hat. That hat saved my life (don't ask; it's a long story. At least I think it is. I can vaguely remember something about a prostitute, a Doberman pincher and a bottle of Jack Daniels; but thats about it). Anyway, I never take my hat off; not even to sleep or to shower. So, the job of Headmaster of the Forum is out of the question for me.

Do you think I have a shot at doing some modeling here in China? I was thinking I could do a commercial on bug sprays or Hefty garbage bags or something like that. I cant really sing but I can play a mean kazoo. I guess if all else fails, I can always get a job teaching kindergarten.

Listen, so-call;ed "Old Dog",

I am not going to take this verbal assault from you lying down! So you have been a cowardly lurker for years, keeping tabs on my postings, only to use as flak what you somehow contrive to twist against me?

I most emphatically reject your allegation that I am treating this forum as though I was "headmaster" here! When I use the pronoun "we" or "us", I mean it in the accustomed way, full stop.
And, what is "unpleasant Teutonic manner" exactly - are you racially or religiously profiling me?
This no doubt is intended to demonise me! "Watch out! Genghiz Khan's Teutonic hordes are coming!"

My career was "not exactly glorious" - 2 such references: what the hell do you Hot Dog know about my career, except what I publicised myself? What right do you have to turn and twist it to make it appear as a condemnation of myself?

Then, two oblique references to my "blundering into bordelloes" - this claim is straddling the border between bad-mouthing and libel, Top Dog!

There are other many TEFLers out there that take such an adversarial outlook; you are, however,, the first to attempt character assassination on me!

I can draw my dagger too!

And I tell you right away: I will never hesitate to dress down anyone who out of the blue makes wild, unsubstantiated and unverifiable accusations and allegations against schools or teachers.

Freedom of speech? Is this freedom of speech? I didn't know, and I don't want this kind of "freedom"... not for myself, not for any society!

I am done with you, Old dog!

Roger, forgive me. I do no more than quote you. I take it you always post honestly - and temper your freedom of speech with mildness and compassion.

But this is the Christmas season. Merry Christmas.
