I am supposed to be teaching soon for a school in Istanbul and would like to supplement my income by tutoring private students. I was told that this can be quite lucrative. If anyone can give me advice on how to find private students, I'd greatly appreciate your help, particularly since the supposed job may not materialize. |

Go to the Universities and put up your notice for language teaching.
With privates insist on them paying some of the lessons up-front, because cancellations and no- shows are notorious in this business.
Be careful if you work for a school to be discreet about your moonlight hours, otherwise you might run into trouble with your day-job employer. |

As ghost notes, discretion is advisable. However, private lessons are de rigeur for teachers at almost every institution. I've found that once you're living in a place, word soon spreads that there is a native speaker around, and you'll get offers aplenty. I frequently get asked ,but due to my level of income I don't really need the hassle that this kind of work inevitably can bring.
If you or anyone is looking and would like me to forward any potential customers please PM me. |
