Can anyone tell me about how much it costs to rent a small flat in central Granada? A fortune, I would imagine, but I thought I'd ask...

I lived in Granada two years ago. Then I was sharing an apartment, paying 138 euros plus water and gas, which was about 12 pesos more every two months.

It is VERY easy to find furnished, nice and accesible places.

There are ads posted all over the city and word of mouth is a big help.

Good luck.

Thanks! That's great. Are these places in the Albaicin or Sacramonte, or down in the flats? Also, could you possibly answer a couple more questions? Did you teach English there, and if so, how easy was it to find work, what was the approximate pay, etc.?

When I was in Granada on vacation last Noel, I paid around 50 Euros a night for a nice place in the Albaicin. (Okay, it was a very nice place.) I found this place on the Net after hours and hours of looking, and it was by far the best deal (my friend insisted on no youth hostels, which would have been my choice). So I had thought that's the way it was in general. Everywhere else in Spain I had been able to find much cheaper accommodations -- even in Barcelona.
