I've done a search (and came up with nix) for what I thought was a comment by someone that said that some/all Japanese language textbooks are cheaper at home than in Japan.
True or have I got it wrong? Reason being is that I am thinking of getting a couple books like a dictionary and a phrase book before I come over.
Thanks for your forebearance. |

I don't think the prices are much different. The selection in Japan is so much better however. If you're happy with the books you see in your home country and want to get a jump on learning Japanese, then buy the books. |

It really depends. The books that my university in the US used were all imported from Japan, so were priced insanely. I would find out the book needed beforehand, ask friends there for the summer to purchase them for me, and pay them back upon their arrival. However, friends at other universities used different books which were all readily (and cheaply, for university texts) available in the US. |
