I am compelled, after receiving some very revealing PM's, to extend this apology to Bill, aka. NOYB for insulting him in two different threads, by suggesting that he was Joe C. and Miss Molly. I now realize that I was wrong.
Not having been here during the prior fiasco I was unaware of all the intricate involvements and based upon my reasearch I made an erroneous conclusion.
I should have realized the "Malaysia" ruse and the Miss Molly were the product of the Dragon aka. Dr. Poteus.
Please accept my apology Bill, aka. NOYB.
And as for you Dragon, Miss Molly, Dr. Poteus, Joe C. please dog someone else who can appreciate your style. I do not.
Signed, Elsie the cow, Captain Kirk, Jabba the Hutt, all openly used in avatars.
Joe C.

Before I can know if that is a compliment or an insult I will need to know who MW is or was, please?

Nice try, Guru! Got CRS Syndrome? Amnesia??
MW was a guy who posted much the same stuff as you did. I'd venture to say that your "human friend" is MW & Company.

Joe C also known as Miss Molly -
I have looked up all of our posts and I can not find any reason you dislike me and want to have me tagged with this MW characters bad history in here. Why do you want the moderators to bann me? What did I do to you?
I see that in your prior incarnation as NOYB that you had some run ins with MW but that is no reason for you to attack me. I have nothing against you.
So what's up bro?
Some have suggested I am Hubei Canuckelhead, Dragon or even you but I do not know why?

Miss Molly -
Why do you and Joe C have the same avatar?
Why are you and Joe C never here at the same time?
Why do you and Joe C post within minutes of each other but never together?
Why did Joe C join this forum the same day NOYB was banned from a competitor's forum?

Golly Miss Molly -
I just noticed that Joe C joined May 8 and has 15 posts.
You joined May 10 and have 34 posts.
Now that use of multiple handles is an old trick. The first is called a sleeper which lays low until activated when the second handle gets banned. Saw NOYB use this in here before.
I also notice that Joe C and Miss Molly write in the same style. Unless you both went to the same schools and had the same bad teachers, one may conclude that you are one and the same person.

You've been reading too many FBI dime novels or The Enquirer news articles.
If Miss Molly and I were one and the same, would we be crazy enough to use the same avatar? Gimme a break. |

O. J. Simpson argued that it would be crazy for him to park his white ford bronco in fron of the murder scene; crazy to leave Ron Goldman's blood in his white for bronco; crazy to wear his custom shoes and leave the prints in the fresh blood; crazy to jump his own wall when he could drive through the front gate. etc.
Nice touch Dragon using the same avatars with different names so you could claim that would be a crazy thing to do and proves you two are not the same person.
Are you going to buy a house in Florida so you can live close to O.J.? |

O.J. was found not guilty by a jury of his peers.
You are guilty, MW. |

Maybe I'm out of line here, I don't really understand all these initials and banned people that are referred to constantly. But my way of thinking is: Who cares if somebody has multiple identities?
I feel that a medium such as this are ways for people to be able to air their feelings, and give and receive advice. And have a little fun on the way. We are all reasonably intelligent people here, otherwise we probably wouldn't be in the jobs we are in.
I have to agree with CS. If I was banned from here, I would take that as being told "we don't want you." I would not want to come back to where I was not welcome.
If someone does decide to come back, with a different handle, then what is the harm? If they mess up again, we have moderators to handle that situation. I don't see that as my job. If they don't mess up, then maybe they've learnt the error of their ways. They might even, given the chance, be productive in the future.
Or perhaps, like the rest of us, they just want contact with others in the same industry. Let them enjoy the site, like the rest of us do. If they want to have two handles, then maybe they just want to have someone to agree with them. I don't really see the problem with people trying to give themselves a bit of self-confidence. Whatever it takes.
As long as it doesn't hurt others. |

Hey CP! There are, I think, 4 distinct kinds of moderation on a forum like this.
1. The skeet-shooting software. Kind of the dumb robocop of the forum world. It's easy to sail around and if you're going to do that you need to make a personal judgement call on how far you go. Dunno, maybe some of us have a blind spot on this or just don't see our own inconsistencies, but there's a difference between writing, say, f*** and f.you-know-the-rest. The stars make it less graphic while imparting the full meaning.
Okay, it's all crass, graphic and gross but it is, in context, highly entertaining.
2. The goderators. Sometimes they're inexplicable. If only we knew how they make their calls. Not having a whine; more than a few of us are truly curious about lines of demarcation. I hope to get a thread going about this which is a non-abusive, non-whiny one that we and they can reach an understanding on.
3. Self-moderation. Highly subjective and potentially unstable, but it is done. In PMs a bunch of us send to each other we talk about the stuff we would like to say but don't. Self-censorship can be a very useful tool. Heaven knows, of the 100% of stuff I post, of which 95% makes it past stillbirth, about another 10% the software and goderators never have a chance to take a tilt at, because I realize on rereading before submitting that I've gone too far. I'm not Robinson Cruscoe on that one, either.
4. Poster moderation. Sometimes someone is so outrageously offensive or boring to so many people, we just roll over the top of their comments and let them talk to themselves. At first they get a rise out of people, then we get out the torches, then we ignore them. They scuttle around in the dark picking imaginary arguments, trying to get a rise out of an unsuspecting bystander - just so someone will acknowledge them. They never pull the software skeets and we sometimes don't understand why the goderators don't have a quiet word with them, but once they get a rise out of one person it gives them the determination to go on.
This '2 handles' thing can have a funny side. If you're a 'Group 4' numbnut you can at least have a conversation with yourself (like Sunaru - my alter-ego and I do).
I think I'll PM Writerman and ask if a specific thread on this is allowed. I'm told by my off-forum buddies that he doesn't answer, but maybe that's general and not specific to a topic such as this. I'll get back to you guys once I've had a reply...or not. This could be, I believe, a really worthwhile and interesting discussion.
Okay, I'm up to 49,999 words and I don't want to turn this into the thread I'm proposing.
Cheers! |

Thanks for that CS. It gives me a bit of an insight into the group dynamics in here.
I was SURE that ESL Guru and Sunaru were the same person. I noticed they have four of the same letters in their names. If you take out those four letters (S,U,R,U), it leaves ELGNA, which is ANGLE spelt backwards.
Now, we know that Sunaru likes to spell things backwards, and is always looking for an angle on anything.
Is this a hidden message he has sent? |
