I'm American, and I have no problems with Canada. (Especially, as Gordon pointed out, since our neighbors to the north might be our only friends now!)

While I am very critical of my own government, I also intensely dislike people bagging on AMERICANS because they erroneously equate us with that government. American-bashing sucks. That said, though, retaliatory bashing of any other nationalities is not the answer.

Canada rocks!!! Woo-hooo!!!!

Most of the Americans I have recently met have little connection to their present government thank god. Unfortunately demographics are working against the enlightenened ones at the moment.

El;

You may want to check your facts. How can 90% of the British hate Blair when 41% of the voting public think he is doing a good job?

Finally! Someone got the point of my ridiculously stupid post. It's so easy to just bash a country and its people. Facts aren't even relevant. I don't hate Canada, the U.S., the UK, France, etc. (well, maybe Antarctica -- they just make me so mad!).

ok. Fair enough. I'll rephase.

So, 90% of the British public think that we should not have gone to war in iraq and really dont like tony blair for it. Was in a national newspaper a while back.

However, with respect to home affairs, it seems that the british public are more content. What you must bare in mind is that the opposing party is the Conservative party.

Which is the lesser of the two evils???Who knows. Given that the conservatives were in power previously, I can see why people think that he is doing a good job. eg our economy is a little more stable than it was under the conservatives.

Moreover, it seems that while there are other parties to vote for eg liberal democrats, it seems that the majority of the british public are too chicken to vote for anything other than what they are familiar with. Perhaps because the other parties have no experience in being in power.

Oh I dunno, I think elerun's Pink Floyd version has a certain sureal ring to it. Wink

The beauty is that most don't know a damn thing about our country so they can't really slag it off. Laughing The more I travel, the more I like it.

Yeah My country Canada has many faults, but compared to the American government that commits atrocities everyday which are obvious we are like heaven on Earth LOL! And to ignore the slaughter the American government does is like saying the holocaust in WW2 never happened it's just common knowledge. Now that said I love the American people it's just that Bush, Rumsfeld and Rice need to get a road side bomb up the arss! And I know most of you intelligent Americans hate Bush as much as ooooh 99% of the world does.

Canadians are different from our American Friends, I say we are mixed European/American and bunch of other cultures lol. We are more laid back (the legal dope will do that to ya lol) We dress differently and act differently and our sense of humor is different. We let people live the way they want and do what they want no matter who they are.
