I spoke with a friend last night and he now has work/residence permit. He works at one of the better state schools. The process took 10 days to complete and he didn't need to leave the country. I had a look on the Ministry of Educations website( www.meb.gov.tr ) but I couldn't find anything. Has anyone else heard of anything. From memeory it is usually this time of the year that things(secretly) change |

From what I hear from talking to people working in various institutions in Istanbul, it really is possible to get things sorted quickly if the place you work at has the right reputation and contacts with the government. Naturally, the better state universities and schools, and some of the top private universities, can get your residence permit processed in under two weeks, whilst language schools aren't granted the same kind of service. |

when a school applies for a work permit, the ministery of education asks the staff working there....they write you a short message telling why employ a foreigner instead of a Turk.... you have to give this answer which is not easy if there a re 10 foreign teachers working in your school...for the universities it is easier to do that because 260 turkish + 4 foreigners looks ok for the ministery ....its only the first step...there are other procedures to employ a foreign person...i think most of you are non-turkish and cant guess how hard things work in ministery of education especially for the language courses.... |
