Al Ain, among other things is an oasis city in the UAE. There is NO oil in Al Ain other than the vegetable variety. I think you might have been been had here.

i cant concieve that anyone would get a letter like that and ring the number.

i really, truly cant.

if its important, theyll send you one on red paper. otherwise that thing should have been chucked in the bin within a second of being opened.

My sentiments exactly. I found that letter with call only instructions to be unprofessional at the least.

Goldman, the Sheikman is correct about no oil in Al Ain. The oil industry is in Abu Dhabi at Umm Al Nar. I know because I worked there. However, they do have several off shore situations, but none are close to the inner oasis city of Al Ain. Having said that, why don't you continue to communicate with them and see what they have to offer? Al Ain is a nice place; the money is tax-free, the hotels have nice bars, and there are many lovely ladies.

the poster above is the type to say "maybe i could get something out of them" as in, maybe this once they would do something out of the ordinary, just for me, wont make a big profit, just help me out. maybe we could work together. maybe this is once in a lifetime.

the poster above IS THE REASON these letters get sent out.

gtidey,
Are you referring to me when you write that the above poster is, "just trying to get something out of them?" You must be very young and naive; inexperienced, without any knowledge of the Middle East! I only suggested that the offer should be looked into. I've worked in Saudi, Bahrain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi (Al Ain is part of Abu Dhabi). Many times the Bedouins put off hiring until the last minute, they are the consumate procrastinaters. The OP should find out the money involved before he rejects the offer because of 'an unprofessional' response. All I was trying to say was that a little more effort and research might be to his benefit.

As for your idealistic comments ("just trying to get something out of them") , It's that attitude that keeps people in OUR chosen profession so poorly paid. Perhaps, when you are older and on your own without the comfort and support of mommy and daddy, you might not be so hostile to my friendly advice. Very Happy

It is worth taking a look at. The fact that it is so 'unprofessional' suggests it may be genuine. If the OP has his CV on the web they may well have found it.

I would be suspicious though. The norm in the Middle East is for them to call you. Could well be oddgy recruiter.
