Does anyone, who has been using Hotmail for a few years, have an inbox limit greater than 2MB without paying the extra fees? I'm ticked to see that they're offering new sign-ups 250MB accounts while ignoring the (in my case) original non-MSN Hotmail users.
I read a vague promise back in the spring that Hotmail would follow Yahoo and increase its inbox size in the summer. So much for that.
My bloody inbox is filled daily with Spam (that MSN says it's fighting *snicker*). There's always room for the message; however, from MSN saying that I can pay extra to avoid Spam and have more inbox space.

It seems to be that they are increasing the storage capacity of the people who have their registered location as UK & US first.

So, if you are registered as being in China or Thailand or.... go to your options and change it to the US or UK and within a few days you should get an email saying your capacity has been increased to 250Mgb.

Change over to Yahoo. The only advantage of using Hotmail was that you could synchronize with Outlook Express, and even that was dodgy and now they're taking it away.

I have a Yahoo account as well. I use Hotmail when I don't want to give my Yahoo email address. Hotmail also uploads and downloads attachments faster (a mon avis).

My hotmail address which I registered in the UK in about 1998 went to 250 megs about 4 months ago.

Lycos are now giving 300 megs free of charge. It used to be insufferablly slow to use it in China but now its not too bad either.

I have 2 hotmail accounts. Both were upgraded for free, but at different times. Also, the first time I signed-in after the upgrade(or whatever they call it), I hade to click through some "we have upgraded your hotmail account" stuff to get to my own inbox.

One had all my old emails and folders and stuff saved exactly as I had left them. The other was empty. All the saved emails and emails in my inbox were gone. The addresses were there, though.

Weird.

while it is not my intention to promote a particular free web based email provider, i can say that Mailpuppy provides a simple but effective service with 10MBs free. I, too, used to have a hotmail but i got so much nonsense coming in and limited to 2MBs, that i gave up on it. Mailpuppy is also good because you can normally get a reasonable username instead of them suggesting that you add _2004 on the end.

I got the update about the beginning of October and only recently has the account been sorted out properly.
The Outlook side of things is still ok but.. the main account tended to crash after only a few minutes. but only from home. Fortunately , I do have the Yahoo and other accounts to use. this has been sorted out and I am now watching the % increase of 250 rising daily. i thought "It will take ages to use that up" A word of advice for those yet to be upgraded. Don't forget to delete it is so easy to 'read that later' and file under I spent a weekend reading and deleting. that is the downfall, when it catches up with you, your limit takes a long time to reorganise.

shmooj is correct. Gmail blows the others out of the water in every respect, even in its current beta. I can currently spare 3 gmail invitations on a first-come basis, if you send a pm.

Mine was updated to 250mgs as well (my home address was listed as Canada). Good thing too as I was just about to run out of space with it. Embarassed

I have an old hotmail account that predates Mircosoft buying hotmail out (that was eons ago). I can't be bothered paying them for storage or services...not when there are so many superior services out there.
