|
|
I'm going to ATTEMPT to change my driver's license, but have a few questions first:
1)Can I get my CDN license translated at the Canadian consulate instead of at JAF?
2) It's stated that you must be in Canada at least 3 months after your present license was issued. I am totally dumbfounded on this rule as I've been driving for over 20 years and the last time I renewed my license(every 5 years) was on a 2 week trip back home before returning to Japan. Since I don't have the required 3 months I got the DMV from my hometown to send my driving record. Again, can I get this document translated at the consulate or does it have to be done by JAF? If so, how much would this cost?
This 3 month rule is the only thing that's preventing me from getting a license at the moment I think?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

I had a similar experience with the 3 months but I happened to have an old licence and passports and they gave it to me. Without they were going to give me one of the learners licences which does allow you to drive by yourself but not sure of the restrictions.
Call and ask your embassy about the translation but the JAF is fairly easy. I think the office was around Hommachi somewhere and I only had to wait 30 mins if I remember correctly. |
