Prentice worked for Kojen well after the name got changed, we are talking years not months. He actually got us jobs in preschool.
As for profit coming first, anyone who thinks business is not about profit first has their head in the clouds.
How do you come to the conclusion they are a sinking ship? They are expanding. |

Kojen's poor business foresight is beside the point. Until Kojen rectifies the abuses of the past and can consistently fix the problem they have with the lack of oversight, recommendations to avoid working for Kojen / ELSi will continue.
Good luck, you are going to need it if you open this can of worms.

I don't think it's an issue of luck. As I've said before, if someone abuses their position all that's needed is for the victims to stand and be counted. Kojen will listen and take the right action.
However, as long as people just gripe about their situation in a forum the issue will not be taken seriously because such forums, as well as giving genuine information, are full of bitter people wanting revenge. And how easy it is to hide behind a pseudonym while dragging someone elses name in the dirt.

This just in:
IN case you were still thinking of working for Ken Ho, owner of KoJen, think again. During the last typhoon, he ordered secretaries at his schools to stay and answer the phones, even after the secretaries had spent the better part of the day assuring that all families had been contacted. They were told to stay until 7:00 PM, by which time the typhoon was in full blow.
Not bad enough? This dipstick of an owner (K. Ho) actually phoned the schools from the safety of his own home at 6:50 PM to ensure that the secretaries were still there. The directors had long since fled.
Not bad enough? When one of the managers dared to question this decision, she was told by K. AssHo that if a secretary had gotten injured while heading home, then they were too unlucky to work in this business.
Lovely.
Anyone have any ideas how this guy can get the smackdown he so richly deserves? |

I'm not sure about all the detail of your post, but I and the Children's Director and the librarian all had to stay until 7. We are all staff.

And you think that's cool? Typhoons are freakin' dangerous man.
The information I received was, I am now guessing, specific to a particular school.
And that's all beside the point anyway. The fact of the matter remains that your boss thinks that if you indeed suffered a decapitation or impalement on your way home, then you are too unlucky to work for him.
Chris, I admire your dedication. As well, the longer I am here, the more I realize that all LaoBans have a bit of the Ho in them. Not sure if there is anything we can do about it except to collect our exorbinately high paychecks and shut the F up.

I have seen three different reports of non Chinese teachers being required to stay at work after school was canceled in the Taichung area for the Typhoon last week.
Do you also work in the Taichung area?
You need to keep in mind that Taichung is not part of Taiwan but the capital city of the (ROC) Republic of Criminals.
Laws and regulations do not apply down there and organized crime reigns supreme which is obvious from the casinos and brothels openly operating on every bock of every major street in Taichung city. The labor situation and crime are so bad in Taichung that many long time residents are packing up and moving out.
If you live in Taichung I might suggest that you do the same.
I would also suggest you make a formal report to the Council of Labor Affairs (in Taipei) as we have assisted two other teachers in making similar complaints last week in Taichung city and county.
