Nice thing about Dave's appeal worldwide...here in Mexico, I come on and play wiht the China TEFLers, when I am sleepless. They are a raucous bunch, up at any hour.

Guy, please don't take this the wrong way, but when I first saw your pic I thought it was one of those adverts from an animal protection group where they show you pets that have been mistreated. I now realize it's your dog getting its hair cut, hence the sad expression. Embarassed

2006 World Cup is in Mexico? Had no idea...that's how big a soccer fan I am. Still waiting for a good hockey tourney to be announced for Mexico City. 4 years, still waiting....

My poor dog...looks like a shaved rat. Santa should have brought him a little coat for Christmas.

I sleep like a baby--read for awhile and the zzzzzs are buzzing.

One thing that I read somewhere is that if you are tossing and turning you should get up and read and you'll go to sleep faster. I don't know about that, or about the warm milk remedy....

I usually find a nice warm shower or bath helps me get to sleep. Also seeing as that there is almost always some kind of work or prep to be done, doing some of that usually does it as well.

And fellas, the next world cup is in Germany in 2006, I believe the World Cup was in Mexico in 1986 and Argentina won with the help of Maradona's "hand of god" against England.

I get out of bed and have a snack and log on to dave's. And then I stress out about how little sleep I am getting and how crappy I am going to feel the next morning.

Someone once said if you were locked in a room with no light from the sun, every day you would go to bed a little later and wake up a little later.

Try not to drink cola or coffee in the evening after dinner. Anyway good luck.

PS I can relate to the resentment you feel towards the moral upbringing. If I knew then what I know now... who knows.

Watching TV does it for me. It doesn't seem to matter if there's something on that I enjoy or not, within 20 minutes I'm usually sound asleep, whether I want to sleep or not.

Unlike when I lived in the USA, for some unknown reason I've never really had problems with insomnia since living in Mexico. Things that used to keep me awake at night "back home" -- neighbor's dog barking, traffic noises, a phone call and not being able to get back to sleep, etc. -- it seems now that I can (and often do) sleep through almost anything.
