Well, we all know about the tsunami by now I think. If not please go to any news site and see for yourself. At this time they are saying 21,000 people killed with tens of thousands missing... this is a bad one.
Overall we teachers in Japan are lucky that this was in the Indian Ocean and not in the Sea of Japan or the Pacific. But, I'm worried because I know a lot of teachers go to Thailand and Korea for winter vacation...
Is everyone accounted for, you people going on vacation or your friends who went on vacation? I hope so.
Good luck and come back safely.

I hope this guy is all right. I read various blogs about Japan, and this guy in particular is over in Thailand right now teaching orphans, or something similarly selfless. |

Give to;

They are a good group, with offices here in Japan. I know the Asia regional director, he is an honest and sincere man. Hope is very concerned because 5 of their outreach staff are missing in India and haven't been found yet. In any case, I recommend them strongly. |

Looks like a great group with workers already in the area but they only take credit card donations as far as I can see. I was hoping for something at the bank or post office.
If you happen to know their bank account information,( name and account number) I could do a money transfer at the post office.
Thanks!

I find it quite sad that 30,000 died in Kenya and it was never mentioned from any of the news sources. |

I was discussing something similar to this today with a friend. I hate to focus on the negative but your right. The aid to asia is a phenomenal story of the human spirirt, but Africa has the equivalent of a tsunami every 2-3 weeks in terms of aids, famine, etc. related deaths. And the Rwanda genocides flew right under the radar for the most part. Why are African lives always considered less worthy of aid? I hate to think that its all politics, but isn't it? |
