|
|
Hello there,
I have just completed my advanced tesol cert specializing in business English. I am going to Japan 17th Feb (from Australia) I do not have a degree so was intending to apply for a working holiday visa. Is there any advice you could give me to ensure my visa application is successfull. My Airline ticket says I will be returning in 6 months. Is it ok to extend another six months from Japan or can I apply for a whole year now? I Intend to visit the Japanese Consulate three weeks before leaving to apply for my visa. Is this early enough? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Jules

There are no guarantees you will be successful but as long as you satisfy the conditions listed on the official website you should be OK i.e have sufficient funds, a return plane ticket. If you say you plan to go there to work full time they could turn you down. WHV is a travel and holiday visa, so you can sightsee and see the country and work PT while in Japan. You can work FT hours at several places once you are in the country but it shouldnt be your primary purpose.
The visa is initially 6 months and can be renewed twice for Australians i.e up to 18 months in Japan. You can not get a whole year from the beginning. You renew at the immigration office in the city you are living (Osaka Tokyo, Nagoya etc).
No idea how long visa takes to process but three weeks should be enough. I dont think they will rush it for you just because you bought a ticket already though. |

is it just Japan that offers access to NON-degree teachers?
Do other countries offer a way in for teachers without a degree?
i know indonesia hires u just on cert. alone
thailand gives you an illegal job (which requires 30day visa runs)
where else? |
Try China, also some countries in South America do not require degrees. Must be able to get a work permit though depending on exchange agreement with foreign countries.
Korea and Taiwan require degrees for the work visa. |
