First of all, I did not write the article entitled "Are Americans Generous". I started this thread as a counterbalance to the thread "The Stingy US".

Folks who feel that the answer to the question is YES might be well-advised to provide some facts to support that.

Folks who feel that the answer is NO--ditto.

Nagoyaguy, you resort to abusive language because you have no informational points to make. This is my final reply to you on this or any other thread.

Something's wrong there:

Who are the "we"?

People, or countries?

You contrasted "we" with countries--not with people.

Doesn't make any sense.

Is it really that difficult? As someone once said to me, "Try thinking harder."

No need to be snippy--what you said doesn't apply here.

Your sentence is not grammatically correct--therefore, it makes no sense.

YOU need to try harder when you write so that what you write can be interpreted.

Grammar is a code that we use in order to make ourselves understood.

CMM is not violating that code--but you are.

WE (Americans) are more generous than middle eastern countries.

Private donations from Americans are greater than donations from Middle eastern countries. WE (Americans) have also given more via tax money.

Pretty easy to understand, unless you really want to find something to argue about.

Why are you trying to pick on my grammar instead of addressing the point I have made?

edit..
btw, I never said anything about ccm's grammar. I said I have a problem understanding what she is saying (the point she is trying to make) most of the time.

The point HE is making.

"We are more generous than people from iddle eastern countries" is a correct form, as people are not countries.

I have no idea whether people from middle eastern countries are generous or not.

I believe that folks from the US THINK they are generous--somehow that doesn't trickle down very well to individual acts of generosity. And the Bush administration is definitely not generous.
