My husband and I are heading down to Thailand for a few weeks during the Chinese Spring Festival. Can those of you in the know tell me what the deal is with camping in the Marine National Parks? Can we pitch our tent in any ol' spot we want on a beach or do we have to stay in one of the designated campsites? We know that accomodations are really cheap, but we were kind of hoping to find a little spot of our own for a few days. Is that possible? Is it worth lugging all of our gear with us? Any input or suggestions?

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. I checked that link and it's got a lot of good info, but there's no specific information regarding camping outside of designated campsites. We would love to have a look at a Lonely Planet, but we are presently living in the middle of Nowhere, China and cannot get one. We're just trying to find as much info online for now and hopefully will find an LP or other guide when we get there. We'll see what happens. If anyone else wanders by this post and knows anything about this, please feel free to clue me in. Thanks.
