Im heading to Nanchang in Feburary, but I do not know anyone there at the moment. Is there anyone living there currently, or going to be moving there soon??

hi mellissa11,
I have been teaching now in Nanchang for 5 months with about another 6 to go. I am a 55 year old Aussie guy, doing this for the first time and enjoying it here so far. I work at Jiangxi Science & Technology Normal University -old Campus but good parks and people.

Nanchang is not too big-(yet) and we are at the edge of it so its not too chaotic out here, but it is growing fast, like the rest of china. The city center is nothing special compared to other more touristy cities, but it does have things to see without much hassle-comparatively. Ive been told this is like the real China what ever that is..

Getting around here at first was a hassle, because of the non existant tourist service and maps which are all in chinese. I've gotten better in this area now, so I know what it's like arriving hitting the ground running.
Let me know what you need to know specifically or any other help. Also, when you arrive you will find the people and students very willing to show you around
John
