Anybody know anything about FOOTPRINTS RECRUITING, Inc or its program in Santiago? Also, how far can one get in Santiago on $500 -$700 US dollars per month - does that allot enough for savings?
Much appreciated (in advance),
YouthurbaN. |

Stephen !
You are suppoosd to know that by telepathy ! Just as you are supposed to know about the lifestyle of the person putting the question ! Does he drink bottled water or tap water ? Live on sandwiches or need oysters daily ? Smoke ? Use alcohol or other expensive substances ?
You should know that and be able to answer this question ! Otherwise why are you replying ? Get telepathy. Some of the schools offering TEFL Certicifates will probably offer you a course for a small fee.
Then posters will not need to give you any background information ! |

Dear YouthurbaN:
I found the homepage for Footprints recruiting and scanned their website briefly. Of course you can't always judge a book by its cover, but they look like a legitimate organization.
Personally I'm not wild about using recruiters, although they do sometimes serve a valid purpose, especially in regions where EFL jobs are harder to come by.
As for the cost-of-living in Santiago, it would be a very good idea for you to repost your question on the General Latin America Forum, which seems to be fairly active; you'll get more accurate info there than you will here.
I'm sure you've already seen this, but for those who haven't, here's the link:

PS: From their website:
"Footprints Recruiting Incorporated was founded by two English teachers, Jeff Strachan and Ben Glickman. Together they have over ten years teaching experience in North America, South America, the South Pacific and Asia. Jeff and Ben have taught in every conceivable circumstance, from private language institutes in Sao Paulo, Brazil to corporate training centers in South Korea, in positions ranging from freelance tutor to university professor. Utilizing their teaching and overseas experience, the founders of Footprints Recruiting are able to anticipate and meet the needs of both educators interested in working abroad and institutes searching for English teachers.
Footprints Recruiting Incorporated is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with representatives in Asia, Europe and South America.
Anyone can use the internet to find a position teaching English abroad. A motivated individual can research the history and culture of a given country and keep abreast of the current political and economic climate. If you invest the time you can find out if you are being offered a fair contract by an honest and stable employer. Or, you can let us put our experience to work for you. There is no reason not to - the services we offer teachers are free.
All Footprints representatives have lived and taught abroad. Have more questions? We're always here to help." |

Thank you, people--
I appreciate the feedback. Santiago, Chile is where I intend to begin my journey. And I agree, FOOTPRINTS, Inc. seems legitimate and useful.
For those who want my life story and character: it equals spontaneous ambiguity - I don't know, dawg; what's middle class wages there?
Peace (is unsafe).
