Josh--

I challenge YOU to say something interesting and productive that can be discussed on this forum. So far you have not done so.

Stop depending on me to do your work for you--and to entertain you.

Perhaps the point that you made about the list being cut off at the Saudis in order to make them look stingy would be informative to the person who yesterday on another thread insisted and insisted that the LA Times was a leftist newspaper....

Why would that be informative to me?

European countries have pledged separately, and the EU has alsopledged jointly.

I figured that too, but wasn't sure if the (now in the trash) list also included France etc.

Complainers about Saudi Arabia's contributions to the Tsunami relief fund should keep in mind that the 1990 census put the Saudi Arabian population figure at something like 14,000,000 while the United States has something close to 300,000,000 or about 20 times the number of people. I'm sure that if the amount donated by each country were divided by population the figure would be much more favorable to the Saudis.

Yes--the per capita issue has been raised in several media. What I found through January 7 indicated 110,000,000 raised by the Saudis.

The private and public funds pledged by the US totals right around 600,000,000--a little less than 6 times that of the Saudis. But the US population is more than 20 times that of SA.
