We are an Australian married couple in our fifties, and will arrive in Hanoi in mid Feb for a short stay - maybe 6 weeks / 2 months (anything up to about 3 months). We hope to pick up some short term work but are not dependant on it. (We'll be on a strict budget).
Would appreciate any advice, ideas as the idea of living in a hotel for this amount of time does not sound ideal.

The two best letting agencies I've found here (Hanoi) are:

1. eHomes Vietnam
www.emhomes-vietnam.com

2. David's housing agency Vietnam
www.vnhousing.com

You'll find contact details on the sites. Probably best to phone or email cos most of the properties on the sites themselves tend to be out of date (or phoney!) With no. 2 you'll deal with a guy named Quang - decent English speaker - who secured us our nice pad here just last week.

Good luck!

No worries.
I worked it out. I'll make a list of contacts for when we get there I think. I don't want to commit to anything until I've seen it.

Very Happy
All that worry about nothing. Walked into the agent next to the hotel and within 2 hours we have a brand new apartment in the city centre. Talk about falling on our feet!

That's great news belle. Would you be willing to share the name of the agent with us? All the ones we've tried keep showing us round palatial palaces costing double our budget (which they were well aware of). Cheers.

Sorry Huxter,
Only just saw your message and it is way too late for you! The agent was about 2 doors up from Nam Hai 1 Hotel. I don't know the name .
We are vacating our unit on May 6.
