Or does it make claims like this,
| Quote: |
| There are positions advertised for some Asian countries at $50 USD per hour. While most are fraudulent, the ones that are true fail to mention a cost-of-living that can be triple that of your home country. $3000 usd per month rent?(!) That $50 USD per hour goes a very short way. |
Where are these fantastical Asian countries? |

It may be Japan, although your mileage may vary. Glenski has a print up of costs here. I am not sure where the 3000 dollars a month for rent comes from. Maybe an ex-pat on the corporate plan ,but not regular folks.
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment about 20 minutes by train from Central Nagoya. The rent is 85,000 yen a month including parking. In US dollars, about 750 bucks or so. In Canadian, .........well, maybe THIS is the 3000 dollars he meant.
50 dollars an hour teaching is not rare. If you have the skills and the contacts, it is easily doable. |

| Language schools would never pay this in Japan (5,000 yen/hr) unless it was corporate classes or you had a long way to travel. You can make this private teaching very easily or in a university. |

Gordon is right. For part time work at a language school, or being outsourced to companies and factories for business classes, 4000 yen per hour is a common wage (36$ US). Many pay less, especially for teaching kids or housewifes.
Private classes are the way to go for serious coin. |

That looks like an older post of mine...made before you guys gave me better info. I made it based on scant evidence provided by someone else.
I had forgotten about that post...consider it retracted. |

| In Hong Kong the going rate for decent private tutorials is $300 HK or $38 US an hour. You get less at a center but $350 an hour is also common as is $400 HK or $51 US and sometimes even $500 HK or $64 US. I did a bit of that when I first came to Hong Kong and you can do pretty well just tutoring. And as for housing you can do well with well under $1000 US a month. |

I get anywhere from $50-$100 US/hour for teaching privates. The highest paying one is about a 20-25 minute car ride away.
Don't worry about it Guy. I'll try and forget you're not omnipotent. |

Both beautiful...but a real cold swim baby!
See I knew it was a Canadian lake of course, by blowing up the pic to spot the beavers building a dam in the lower right corner. Yep, them's Canuck beavers alright. |
