I was wondering if anybody could give me any info about working for global village? I see them everywhere but find no info on the net.

They primarily hire through agents. Sometimes they will advertise for teachers locally if they need an North American accent (opening a new school or doing a marketing promotion).
Low pay and low hours.

I read the information and comments available at buxiban.com and they largely are in line with what I've heard from people I know who've worked there: pay is low to average, but so are expectations. Really relaxed environment. Big plus is they have daytime classes. You could conceivably get an ARC and health insurance through them while working their minumum hours during the day and loading up on higher paying privates during the evenings. This is a bonus as most jobs and privates are chasing the same hours--evenings. Filling your days with easy adult classes with no prep or marking required and then making the real money with high paying privates in the evening. Hmmm... makes one think...

I wouldn't worry about that. Most schools, whether you know it or not, are doing the same thing. My school even gives out questionaires about the course and the teachers. I think if you are halfway interesting, put a smile on your face and aren't hung over every day you'll be fine.

I can't see why you would choose Global Village. I would go for Davids if I were teaching adults. Better pay and better conditions I believe.

If you don't have any luck with that then I would suggest that you go to Buxiban.com as they are listed on that site and you could contact them from there.

My understanding is that you would need to apply through the head office, with a guy called Simon from the UK. The head office is the school located on Nanking East Road, near Songjiang Road.

I have never worked there but have heard plenty of good, and few bads things about the place. I believe that they pay more than Global Village and Gram schools too, which is a bit of a bonus.
