Hey there
The same happened to me when working in Esk. The Turkish government has changed the laws therefore you have to go back to Ur country and apply for the working visa there. Before you could get the visa the old way. When I was working in Esk the school kept telling me that my documents were in Ankara and that they are working on it, it went on like that for months
. When they had no way out they called the police to tell them I was working illegally. The cops took me to immigration where I had to pay a hefty fine and were banned from entering turkey for the next five years.
The school took no responsibility and denied ever knowing me. (Not to mention the time I had spent in detention) well thats another story.

As for contacting a lawyer, well thats not gonna get you anywhere. I went from lawyer to lawyer paid lots of money cos I wanted to take action against the school, but nothing ever came of it.

So take the other peoples advice and just find another place to work and make sure you are allowed to stay in the country

Cheers
Peaches
P.S. ghost and verify this

Hate to disagree with most people, but you can win if your contract was o.k and if you filled out all the legal forms before you got here. You can request the school to give you a written reason for why you were fired. Most schools will back down and meet you half way if you have a good lawyer, to help you. If you don't know anyone this could prove to be expensive. You need to have friends here.
Good luck.

yeah i can't see doing 40 contact hours a week as better then what i am doing now... and i get a lot of perks that et doesn't give. as for being on the net whilst on vacation - am waiting for my friends to arrive for drinks. the nights are chilly but the days are great.

funny - it takes forever to get a work visa in order partially due to unorganized consulates and such - is it any better with lawyers in a court room fighting a contract battle - wouldn't seem so to me but i can't really conmment on that area - always thought it would be a waste of time and money...
