Wow.......... that bad, huh?? Some of the stuff that people post is a little below the belt (um, literally I guess...), and I suppose it's not exactly conducive to improving the image of EFL teachers. Maybe a seperate forum for people who want to brag about their sexual exploits is the way forward?

Why do I think that people who were offended by my post are exclusively those who were also permanently traumatized by Janet Jacksons nipple, and are currently on medication? Please, cut whatever youre taking in half.

Gee, thanks for sharing that. ....... I think.

Youre welcome.
MOD EDIT
Its not because of the witch hunt, the narrow-minded bigotry of some Koreans who had a major woody for Western chicks that got the teachers in trouble. It was the WRITING of a few good stories. Yeah, that must be it. Up until then Koreans didnt know that we were doing it with their women, that human beings need to exchange some body fluids after being on the road for months even years.

No, I do not want to be the morality police.

Thats exactly what you are.

Your shock only tells me you gotta get some yourself. You call the mans honesty bragging. Like I give a damn what bunch of people that I will never meet think about me. I posted the story because it was funny. End of story. I revealed little bit of who I am. But havent which hunts begun this way?

You know, much of the world views western society as cheap, decadent and lacking in moral values. It's hard enough getting any respect in this "profession" as it is. Is that really the image you want to show the rest of the world? BTW, there are adult forums available for that kind of thing. Why should all ESL/EFL professionals have to put up with this crap on a teacher's forum? It's not making things any easier for those of us who just want to make an honest living of it.

Far be it for me to interfere with your "honest" living. Oh, you speak the truth with such fervour. Yeah, we are so cheap because we try to be honest as to who we really are. I dont give a damn what the world thinks about the West, and unlike you, I wont hide behind righteous garbage youre trying to feed the world.

If EFLers want to improve their image, they should learn how to teach better and forget that their image resides in their pants. While in Korea, I didnt meet a single teacher whose raison detre wasnt to get laid. I never blamed us: We were young and respected. Of course we were going to use it to our advantage. Women loved us and we loved them. Isn't this what we're supoposed to be doing? Oh I forgot the alternative: We could always invade their country, murder their men and rape their women. That will really improve our image.

wow...

I didn't watch the SuperBowl this year specifically because there would no chance of seeing Janet Jackson's *beep*. Instead, I spent the whole day reading posts on Dave's...it made for much more entertainment.

How appropriate for an EFLer to not even be able to use words. Oh, I want this one for a teacher, representative of the West, a righteous nailer to the cross.

Hi, Lynn - it's a great OP
Ok, so I skipped the Deconstruction tale, simply because I personally found it gross....but I hope the ensuing morality issues aren't going to derail the original intent of the post. I'm hoping for more stories.

hmmm...let me dig one out of the past.

When I first arrived in Mexico, I spoke little Spanish but was picking it up quick.

The first week I arrived, I had to seek out the various shops for purchasing life's necessities. I knew that 'tienda' meant store, but wasn't sure how to translate grocery store. Noticing that many Spanish words were similar to English, maybe adding an -o or an -ia to the end, I took a stab at it and asked a passer-by. "Discupla...donde esta la tienda de groserias?" (Excuse me, where is the grocery store?) That got a laugh, then a response of "Tienda? Te las doy gratis" (Store? I'll give them to you for free).

Turns out groserias means foul language.

Now that the insults are flying back and forth, I wonder how long it'll be before the mods lock this thread down.
