Dear all,

My partner has accidentally overstayed her tourist visa by six days. She is making arrangements to cross the border tomorrow, but what are the consequences of overstaying her visa? Will a fee be assessed and, if so, how much might it be?

Thanks for your help.

One of two things will happen, either whe'll get fined or she won't. The fee will depend on where and when and whom. I'm sure you'll get a few replies to this query.

Hi

About a year ago I over-stayed about ten days. Crossed the border and paid a fine of about $50 I think. The police were fine, no hassle, I think it depends on your attitude to them, the border, the time of the day and whether or not they are planning to have a few rakis in the evening.

No worries, if your friend only overstayed for 6 days..its about $ 50 at most , maybe $20 or nopayment if your friend looked remorseful and pleads ignorance about the expiry date of her visa. but it shouldn't be a serious problem considering that I do know people who overstayed a month and only payed a $100 just late last year.
I hope she has a safe crossing.. best of luck..iyi sanslar dostom

Tell her to try to use the 'I got stuck due to the snow' excuse. And to smile and be really apologetic.

If you overstay a VISA and get caught, they can charge you 33YTL for everyday that you have overstayed your VISA. It is written that way in the books, if it is inforced or not is up to the gaurds.
