My man, you will never have a problem with me. I hear what you are saying, heck you have a valid point. In fact, I am really surprised and happy to see you do an about face on this one. What with this being cyber and all, I wouldn't have been surprised if you had fought Decon tooth and nail. It makes me happy to see someone who is willing to listen to others and perhaps admit they were wrong, I thought I had that market cornered.

Yo mate, it's all good!

Well, I hope there are no hard feelings towards me either.

There aren't. It is never my intention to flame anyone; rather I like to roast everyone including myself, especially myself. I do understand that my own language could be harsh sometimes. None all of us are perfect.

You can't hide from those flames no matter what you or I or anyone else say. When they come after you, they are blind and deaf. Why should you live in fear?

MOD EDIT

I think is the answer is yes, we do 'curtail' our speech. When you have a fire burning, it is a reasonable limitation to ask that one neither light a match nor bring more gasoline to the party. I'm tempted to say that the idea of free speech is something you can quote from the komfort of Kanada, but even there you have limitations on speech (thinking - incitement to riot as an example) following the idea of 'strong emotions' and 'witch hunts'.

Just try and say anything that doesn't support the government line post 9/11.

Ask Bill Maher, the Dixie Chicks or the idiot professor in Colorado.

It is so easy for human beings to retreat in the face of adversity and give up some of the most cherished ideas who hold.

It is so easy for human beings to retreat in the face of adversity and give up some of the most cherished ideas they hold. Free speech is at its most valuable when used precisely when some say you mustn't.
