Better English in Zhongshan, Guangdong? Yes, I know.

A Canadian lady asked me about this school and I checked it out for her; I found it to be a very congenial environment, - modern and clean downtown area, brand-new buildings, freindly decoration, useful equipment and even textbooks of high quality, some of which published by the school itself.

The owner was one Victoria, and she introduced me to her partner whose name I forgot. I later reported my positive findings to that Canadian.

The lady eventually turned up in China, first in Hubei, then in a different location, and finally in Zhongshan.
Zhongshan is half-way between Guangzhou and Zhuhai, so pretty close to my present whereabouts. However, we never managed to meet up. I ascribed this partly to her reluctance to venture out of her adopted temporary hometown. To a considerable extent, however, it was due to timetable constraints compounded by the erratic nature of planning - or lack of it. My friend seemed to never have a clear idea of when her days off would be.
In her final email she sounded less than enthusiastic.

Still, I want to say the 4 foreign nationals working there when I showed up all gave thumb-ups to the school. They were from Canada, the U.S.A., Australia and Singapore respectively.

I worked with 2 teachers who did work at BES and they would not recommend it. However, there complaints echoed the same complaints about all private English schools in China - managers who don't know how to work with foreigners. They treat there own kind like s___ and treat foreign teachers the same way.
