|
|
If anyone working in DF is interested, there are get togethers at the Canadian Embassy in Polanco, DF every Friday night around 8 PM. If you aren't Canadian, you need a Canuck to invite you. If anyone is interested, I'm renewing my habit of going every week, so PM me if you'd like to hook up.
The embassy has a small bar and pool table, so don't expect a wild time? It's usually a jump off point for other evening debaucheries. |

Americans can only get in with a quick language test. Hint: just add extra u's to certain words and blather on about hockey Just kidding.
Anytime, just PM me and I'll invite you in, whenever you're in DF. |

YAY! I'll be on the next plane!
As a citizen of the other most ignored country in the Commonwealth (perhaps the world??) they'd let me in, wouldn't they?? |

Odour...although I've been away so long, I could be wrong on that!
Teaching here in Mexico has taught me to teach American spelling. That's what I've been taught, about teaching, in teaching, that is.
Malicious odoUrs...yeah, that sounds right for spelling and for Metro Tacubaya. |

I'm not sure that Canadian spelling uses the 's' instead of 'c' or 'z'(pronounced ZED) in words like practice and organize. Then again, it's hard to say. Being so close to the US, I'll bet that younger kids today use more American spelling than not.
The real test is how you say the word 'about' |

In Newfoundland, boots are called Gumtuckees. Try as we might, we can't get NFLD to separate from Canada. Maybe Spain wants them?
By the by, we've got 4 or 5 people rounded up for tonight's CDN embassy gig. If you're into it tonight, meet us at the front door at 8 PM |

Yeah, I'm sure the Newfoundlanders (?? didn't want to say that other term) and the Basques would get along like houses on fire! Or maybe they'd just burn each others' houses down!
As for the drinkies, were Concorde still in use I'd be there, but will have to be content with sauntering off to my local (in my gumtuckees) and take in some fantastic tapas!! |

Well the embassy get together tonight was rather dry. Not many people around, though they say there are normally more.
I got to meet the Canadian military attache for Latin America! He says his job is quite boring as the CDN military doesn't do anything in Latin America. His wife, on visit from Quebec, seems to like tequila.
On the brighter side, we went to the Zona Rosa after they kicked us out of the embassy at 10:00 PM (boy do Canadians know how to party, eh? ).
So, let me rephrase my OP to say if anyone wants to get together at a normal hour on a Friday night...after the embassy is probably better...
Who knows how to ride a mechanical bull? |
