There is more than one subcontractor. Conditions vary. Which one. ?
I take it the figure you quote is in US dollars ? If it is in Riyals you are in for a shock. |

The Aramco contractor which is offering $4,200/mo is Al Hoty. Anybody out there work for them? What's your set up? Tell us everything. |

The contractor you will be working for are okay as far as contractors go.Al
Hoty are just as good as anyone else.
The ITC where you will be working is a bit of a sausage factory and the managment are draconian but it is alright for a year or two as the money is okay. You just need to keep your head down and do not complain about anything just collect the money. It will be quite an adjustment but you need to be aware that if you start complaining even if you are justified your life will be made miserable by those in charge.
Housing will probably be no good so after you settle in it is better to get an housing allowance and find your own.
I work for Aramco but on the IT side so i do go to ITC and train there so i have a good idea about what is going on in regards to English teaching. |

After reading "Dune" by Frank Herbert my sole desire in life is to go and work for Aramco, where Herbert spent 30 years of his life. Do Aramco still do direct hires ? I mean teaching EFL, not teaching in the school for children of Aramco employees. |

Hello. Yes, you can be hired directly to teach in Aramco schools. The job is excellent....great pay, eager students, nice vacation opportunities, etc. They can afford to be very selective as far as credentials. You must at least have a teaching certificate in the subject you wish to teach.... and they do a very very thorough background check.
Good Luck,

Nomad Dan :
There are two educational openings with Aramco :
1. Aramco schools which offer an "international" (ie American) curriculum to children of Aramco employees. These are for certificated teachers with experience in teaching their own speciality.
2. Training courses in English for Saudi employees and trainees of Aramco. These are TEFL/TESL opportunites
My inquiry was focussed on the SECOND. |

The ITC doesn't offer direct hire opportunities as far as i know. The contractor positions are still okay as the salary is great but do not offer the facilities that Aramco offers to direct hires. If you are American you get at least 16000 riyals a month possibly more depending on quals and experience. |

Aramco does not directly hire ESL teachers for adults. It has in the past, but these is now strictly contractor positions. |

Do not forget to look at the whole package. Is it single status ? Can you take the wife and bairns ? Will you get an educational allowance ? How many tickets do you get ? What about medical cover ?
Will you be forced to share accommodation in some squalid villa; to teach 8 classes a day ; to have only 28 days annual vacation.
The riyals in the paycheck are not everything |

Could you tell me where I can find these contractors?
Most of jobs want native speakers. Also, Aramco has only job opportunities for men, right? |
