I read the small print. i'm always surprised when they meet the target in "cash in your attic"

You know, I've tried 'Doctors' a couple of times but it just doesn't do anything for me. I do like 'Cash in the Attic' but it's the seemingly endless succession of house hunting shows that suck me in. Though I've never been to the UK, I find myself shouting at the TV about how those fools will never get a 4-bedroom detached house with a lush garden at the ridiculously low price they want. Seems like they always decide to keep searching for the unattainable ideal or put a bid in only to back out a week later.

And we can't forget 'Design Rules' -- I'm learning all about what to do with my flat in the unlikely even I get motivated to decorate it.

I know where you are coming from Irish. I can't work it out. I watch Top Gear and I can't even drive. I have been known to watch DIY programs and the closest thing I get to DIY is changing a light bulb.

First one was very good, though. Except for that silly Fatal Attraction bit.

I have to admit to being addicted to those house hunting/DIY programs as well, though I can't say I relate- my current little rental box near Kadikoy is the closest I have ever come to a home (ie not school housing, not someone's couch, etc) and I really dont think I want to increase my landlady's market value by redecorating it (even the hideous fenerbahce side room, impulsively painted years ago by her son in gashes of bright yellow and blue, with scribbled in bad poetry like 'sometimes love is stronger than death').

Did anyone ever see that Safe As Houses episode where the Istanbul guy and his tarty English wife were trying to sell their Birmingham council hovel and move to Devon? He sold used cars from his front lawn.

I also can't get enough of that odd little number late Sunday night whereby families move to places where they have holidayed (is that a verb?) and have to establish themselves within X amount of time. I love how much culture shock and panic they get after moving to... er... New Zealand. Frightening!

There has been a massive increase in A&E (ER to north americans) admissions in the UK as a direct result of people trying to improve their homes after seeing how it's done on these programs. I think they should be banned for the general safety of those who watch the BBC.

Have to come to the defence of the DIY programs. Changing Rooms, Big Strong Boys and the rest. They really hepled me when I was redecorating my new house. The only way I could buy a place in good location was by buying an old bome that needed alot of work. So I'm up for DIY, thou black and silver paint is just not on.

I like Ready Steady Cook, also that new one of Ainsley at home where he cooks and visits restaurants, but I have to make myself not watch these shows. It's too frustrating here! I'm a pretty good cook, and I understand how to make most the things they do on those shows (still holding out for my own kitchen-sized flame thrower though...), but they always make these delicious sounding dishes that are full of ingredients YOU CAN'T FIND HERE!!! Or, at least things that can't be found easily without a three-hour trip to Kadık�y or Nişantaşı on the off-chance that maybe they'll have what I'm looking for. I get so angry after I watch them and I don't want to cook or eat out or anything. It sends me down the home-sickness spiral, and then I get annoyed with Turks for trying to be European but still being afraid to taste or eat foreign food, or even food that's not necessarily foreign, just different from how Mommy makes it. I know, it's getting better-- found a small dusty bottle of BBQ sauce in B�y�kşehir Migros the other day, though I haven't tasted it yet-- but there's still not enough variety or easy ways to find things to cook like they do on TV...

Sigh...Guess it's pasta with yogurt and Knorr soup for me again tonight...

I didn't realise it was possible for so many banks to give credit to such obvious losers. They owed money to everyone. It was incredible that neither of them seemed to have any intention of getting a job, and when they were at the most broke that joker went out and bought yet another heap of junk old banger.

Are we missing something here? Is it really possible to be this dumb?
