Hey, just had my interview in miami today and it went pretty well.... only thing was they must have asked me 4 or maybe even 5 times if i was ok with living anywhere....

i insisted that while i had a preference for near tokyo, i want to go to japan no matter what and i would be willing to go anywhere they placed me.

anyone have any thoughts on this? they dont already have an idea of where i will be placed do they??

Thanks.

No, but they probabaly have a bunch of slots that they have to fill that are not your prefferred locations. If you requested a very popular city, they know that your chance of getting it is slim.

Everybody and his brother want to live "in or near Tokyo". They have a couple dozen slots in that neighborhood to fill for 6000 applicants. The rest go into the countryside (hence, asking if you will live anywhere).

Chiba, Yokohama and Kawasaki are suburbs of the Tokyo megalopolis. I live in Sapporo, a highly requested area due to its skiing opportunities.

Yes, Sapporo...
I requested Hokkaido Prefecture and put an "N" as to No preference where in Hokkaido. Although there are presently 160-odd JETs in Hokkaido right now, there's no guarantee I will get it (btw: I only put Hokkaido on my application, no other requests).

In the interview they did ask me "what happens if I get sent to Okinawa?" and I replied "my number 1 priority is to experience Japan, no matter where I'm sent I'll make the most of it"...

The better your japanese is, the more likely you'd be posted off to a rural area (as most BOEs prefer people to have some japanese proficiency in the middle of nowhere).

From what they told me, they don't get the final figures of all the vacancies until the end of April when the JET reps meet in Tokyo to iron out the last few details...

Good luck with the posting to wherever you may go!!
