Most of my students in Jakarta were relatively wealthy by Indonesian standards. When I talked to them about salaries, I found that a typical wage for an office worker was 1.5 to 2 million Rp per month. Even a bank manager might make twice that - maybe.

A starting salary for an EF teacher in Jakarta is around 7 to 8 million.

we will never settle this!!!

I had a friend who quit Boing to take care of horses and was much happier with out all the stress pay cut 75%.

so if you are happy making a few Rp`s ok good for you,
But when you forget that you are a person and let your boss treat you like a dog! you do hurt everyone who works in the same bis. I know 2 people who are working for under 3mil and get No benefits, so now my boss thinks she can find an experienced teacher for that too.

So have a hart take care of yourself and others dont work for someone who pays so little that you lose $ after all you are WORKING, and dont expect to get 10mil in a small town from a small school either.

As of Indonesian pay, a teacher makes about 1 mil in a public school 6+ in privet schools
So you make more than the lower income people.

Shop owners and mangers make as much or more than you, a friend of mine sells bbq chicken and makes 5-8mil and a friend with a large restaurant that makes 40 +mil and if you are lucky stating salary in the LNG,LPG is about 7 mil+ all the benefits I have a friend who is security manger and gets 24 mil and a teacher for the same Co. who gets 9 mil

It all about what you can find and your skills, or who you know and what youre willing to take

Can you get me a job there too Chester? Maybe we could form our own Full Monty type male stripper gang dressed up as Jakarta cops. Better than blurdy teaching and we might get extra dosh for shaggin' rich bored housewives into the bargain. I'm sure there'd be a market for it.
