I am trying to work out some last minute kinks in my travel plans to Taiwan. Can anyone tell me: how difficult is it to get a 60 day multiple entry visa in Bangkok? (I am Canadian.)

I will be travelling from France to Thailand and then to Taipei (this is the cheapest route I could find). I thought that it might be easier to get the Taiwan entry visa upon arrival in Bangkok instead of in Paris. I will be leaving from Paris, but I am not living there, so spending two days waiting for the visa is going to be more expensive than waiting in Thailand. However, I am worried about the language barrier at the embassy in Bangkok.

Alternatively, I could skip the 60 day visa, and just get a 30 day visa-exempt entry upon arrival in Taipei. Any advice?

Hi-don't know if this is still relevant--but here goes
It's better to get a 60 day visa in Bangkok, than go on a one month landing thingy. You will likely get a single entry visa, which is all you need. You can apply for multiple and see what you get. If you are coming to find a job, then you will need the time to process a working visa in Taiwan (about a month or so).
The visa office is in the Empire Tower in downtown Bangkok right near the chom nonsi skytrain station-one stop from sala daeng station.
Be at the visa office about 8:45 am because it gets real busy fast--also get a number as soon as you get into the area where you fill out the form. The visa is 1500 baht. Make sure you have all documents including the atm receipt showing you have enough money to support yourself in Taiwan for 2 months--about $2500 CAD Under no circumstances do you say you are looking for work, if you do they will automatically deny your visa--you are just a tourist- is all you put or say. So, you apply one morning and should have the visa by the next afternoon.

There won't be a language barrier as most of the staff at the visa office are fluent in three languages. Photos can be taken in the tower. You need two passport photos....the cost is two hundred baht in the tower. I was asked for a copy of my credit card rather than an ATM receipt. Ia rrived at 11:30 and was able to get everything done.

Jeez, the sky is not falling on my head. If there are any transactions on my credit card I don't know about I can cancel the transaction. I'd never ever use a credit card and neither would anyone else as this sort of thing that ARISTOTOLE suggested is possible in every single country in the WORLD. It was an application for a visitors visa (see garygnu's post) and the process took one working day. If you're staying in the Banglamapoo (khao San road) area take the river taxi to Central pier and then take the Skytrain the BTS stop is the one after Surasak.
