HI MY NAME IS TERRY AND I AM JUST TRYING TO FIND OUT IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THE TEACHING SITUATION OVER IN KIEV OR ODESA, ESPECIALLY ODESA.
I AM CURRENTLY TEACHING IN PRAGUE WHICH I LOVE BUT FOR SOME REASON I HAVE THIS OBSESSIVE CURIOSITY ABOUT TEACHING IN THE UKRAINE. IF ANYONE KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS, THE PAY, THE NEED FOR ENGLISH, ETC.. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COMMENT. IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
THANKS TERRY |

Hello there,
there is a pretty high demand in Ukraine...depends on where you look.
The best bet is to try LSE..they're the most reputable in Ukraine, and they have schools in Kiev and Odessa.

LEARN HOW TO STOP BEING SUCH A DAMNED GRAMMER NAZI
AND PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE ANY DIGNITY, RESIST THE UNHEALTHY TEMPTATION TO CORRECT THE OBVIOUS SPELLING MISTAKE IN THE ABOVE SENTENCE, IT ONLY CONFIRMS THAT YOURE (SIC) LONELY AND BORED...IF YOUVE (SIC, I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW) ANYTHING HELPFUL TO SAY SAY IT, BUT SPARE US OTHERWISE. |

guys,
ODESA is spelled ODESA.
ODESSA is the English version which is not recognized in most of the world.
as far as the other comments. dudes, GET A LIFE! if all you have is time on your hand to make bogus comments on topics i feel sorry for you.
trying getting laid!
LATER--HERE IS SOME MORE VOLUME FOR YOU!
as far as for the only comment worth reading (ibasiram). THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE INFO.

take care,
cheers,
terry--Prague is definately a cool city for anyone who hasn't had a chance to visit. not a bad place to live either! |

Odessa is a wonderful city with a nice downtown and good night life. It's also the most cosmopolitan city in Ukraine, since it's a port; you will see more variety of peoples there than anywhere else including Kyiv.
If I had to choose between the two I'd definitely rather live/work in Odessa. Between the weather and the aforementioned qualities it might be the nicest city to live in in Ukraine (save Lviv --I have to say that).
I met the proprietors of London School of English in Odessa and they seem like good guys.
Good luck.

P.S. I may be wrong, but I think it's spelt Одесса (not Одеса) in cyrillic, which means it could be written both with one 'S' or two?[/code] |

no
lochness is the one who is troubled about this
he says "Odessa" should be "Odesa" but then happily uses the English form for "Praha" - "Prague"
Does he talk about "Moskva" instaed of "Moscow" ? |

Back on topic!! I'm also wanting the answers to these questions, I'm curious about Ukraine too as family is from there! I'm teaching in China atm, on a contract until July, oral English, but I don't have any TEFL or whatever - I have a University degree however? Any clues as how to start my search (apart from Google )?
Ta in advance |
