The best way to cope with temptation is

- to give in to it Smile Laughing

The best guidebook for activities, eating, culture and (especially) nightlife is Time Out Bangkok.

Well I didn't read all of the posts so this might sound like a repeat and if it does I apologize. I've been to Bangkok many times because I have family there and I got some crazy ass air miles from my work (every time someone would buy a product I would put in my air miles number and get them automatically the more expensive the product the more air miles). The way I stayed away from the hookers and massive drinking is just remembering that at least 1 and 5 of those prostitutes has Aids. I also kept in mind the cool things I can do with my money in Thailand if I didn't spend it on needless things. You can drink alcohol at dance clubs it's a better bet then falling into temptation with a prostitute if you do at their bar. And the other thing is when those lady bars load you up with alcohol and they give you a girl when you arent seeing straight you might bring home a Kathuey (a girl that used to be a boy) and let me tell you some look exactly girls. So just use what I told you and you should be fine.

The longer you stay in Bangkok the easier it is to resist the temptation to indulge. Sure you go out and overdose in the first few days/ weeks/months ( depending on how much money / energy etc you have )

But go into one of the gogo bars and you will find most long termers asking the girls to move out the way so they can see the footie.

Most nights I am tucked up in bed at about 11pm to be ready for the next days work. Goddam that sounds just like home Sad

As for bars getting you loaded up - well, they only do it if you ask for it and more importantly pay for it! There is no such thing as a free drink - anywhere!!

It always irritates me somewhat when people claim that they can't tell the difference between a svelte Thai bird and a bloody great big, odd looking, square jawed, too-much-makeup-wearing, frigging tall, overly dramatic katoey.

I really like BKK, although the traffic jams are SO frustrating.

The way I avoid the hedonistic craziness of cheap 'hos is by having a lovely, if slightly clingy, Thai girlfriend....

I think it's more along the lines of Oscar Wilde: Nothing succeeds like excess.

Besides, Thai women are some of the most beautiful in all the world.

All the best,
