Have you checked the Bilkent website and contacted any of the department pages? They have email links for both the local and foreign professors and it could be useful to write to them. (I'm not saying to ask about salary, but just to get a feel for the department.)

Do you speak Turkish? Have you spent time in Turkey?

I must admit, thinking back to my days in a big state-owned univ., I am visualizing an angst-ridden, bearded, scruffy, wearing the same yellow shirt for a month, philosophy major types - but then I was in college a few years ago and it was fashionable to wear boxer shorts over long johns to class... Laughing

I doubt any male in Turkey would stoop so fashionably low as to wear A&F t-shirts - I'm guessing European standards prevail! Do people really pay $40 for a t-shirt?
