Hi, I am considering working in Japan. I am now in Malaysia. If I take a job in Japan for a year, will they pay for my airfare from here to Japan and then back to the US at the end of a year? Do they usually buy your plane ticket or do they reimburse you for a ticket? |

Most private conversation schools in Japan do not pay for your ticket or provide a return fare. You may receive a small bonus at the end of your contract which will cover your travel expenses, usually at the end of 2 years. The only organisations I know of that pay for airfare are the government run JET program and Westgate at http://www.westgate.co.jp |

I agree with PaulH on the return flight. It's not the standard package with conversation schools here.
You may also want check the details of a conversation school paying for your flight to Japan from Malaysia. It has been a long time for me, but I seem to remember that as a US citizen I was required to leave from a US airport. I can't remember why and if it was a company rule or a visa thing. I had applied for JET and NOVA at the time (1998).
Maybe someone on this board can help out with this question? |
