I am in the process of finding a job in Korea. I want to make sure that I am able to do private tutoring on the side. I'm worried that I won't be able to find a position where I'm only working a total, including prep-time, of six or seven hours a day. It seems that most of the positions require around nine hours a day spent at the school while you only teach for six hours or so. I don't think its realistic to expect that I could also tutor on the side with these kind of hours.

You do understand that private tutoring in Korea is illegal? Many do it but you also run risks. Your call.

If your motive in coming to Korea is just to make the big bucks, fast, you might be setting yourself up for disappointment. Not saying it couldnt happen, but there isnt a cheering crowd waiting to throw money at the next fresh face off the plane. It takes time, patience, proven ability, & connections to find the more lucrative situations.

Any entry-level job here will pay you considerably more than you need to live. Theres fun to be had. But showing up with $$ urgencies first & foremost is likely to be self-defeating. I've seen it time & again.
