What a boring subject huh?
I was wondering if there is someone out there who knows where to pick up cheap cheap cheap furniture. i need something to hold my stylish wardrobe and a desk too. A small little coffee table sounds nice too.
Anyone got a lead aside from segundamano.es?
thanks for your help |

Try prowling around the streets late at night. You can find some gems, people throw away music systems and TVs which have nothing wrong with them. If not, there's the Tetuan rastro (c/ Marques de Viana) with its 2nd-hand/antiques shops. |

Doesn't the rastro on Atocha have furniture as well? I've never been, but I've heard. |

Ok, maybe not, "cheap, cheap, cheap" -- but cheap.

Thanks for the suggestions, the Rastro is a good call.
You would think that prowling the streets would unveil some nice pieces but I must report that I have not found that to be the case. Late at night discarded backpacks and wallets pepper the street (no doubt the tainted booty of a successful pickpocket) but no furniture.
In Manhattan, once can find enough to furnish an entire piso in an afternoon stroll. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong neighborhoods of Madrid. |

I totally agree with the late night prowling (bring a friend or two). Furthermore it only happens once a month or so. Look for signs posted on your buildings entry way or in the neighborhood for these "Furniture Pickup" days.
I myself have three, slightly used but oh-so-comfortable, lounge chairs in my room. All found on different nights throughout my years here. A friend of mine found a sofa and a working microwave! It's out there... you've just got to know when and where to look or get lucky on your way home from a bar !
