PM me whenever you like...or hit me up by email...
Colima has a fantastic set of volcanoes...one of fire and one of ice they say. I've never been but would like to go. |

Hey Guy, what was your favourite place to teach? Also, how long have you been there for? |

I've been here 4 years. I have 'taught' in many places, but through the TEFL training program, I've been able to travel around quite a bit.
My favorite place to live and work would be Cuernavaca. It seems to strike a good balance for a nice climate, decent enough pay, fairly low cost-of-living, and for being not too large a town. It's also really close to Mexico City. |

That's where I first looked into, but I heard it was kind of pricey to live there! I think that would be perfect because it's so close to everything important. Mexico City, the pyramids (I find that kind of stuff really interesting) and the beach is a few hours bus ride away! Plus, it's close to where all my friends live! I would love to get a job in that area... Do you have any pics you could share from there? |

I am also looking for work in or near Puerto Escondido. Maybe we can help each other.
So far, there doesn't seem to be a BIG demand for English teachers, but there are still opportunities. I know, for example, that the Instituto de Lenguajes de Puerto escondido hires part-time English teachers (once in while) who already live in the area ($5.50/hr). That's a start.
I just started looking into to it this week, so I should know more later.
ALSO: If anyone's into surfing, let me know. I could use some tips on where to go, etc. I will be travelling to PE later this year.
Ciao

Pleased be advised that the person who is directing that split position caper is pretty difficult to work with. |

nothing 180: I never worked for her, but you can check with a person who posts sometimes on this forum with the avatar delacosta for specific info about the German woman in question. |

Hey nothing,
Sorry for not replying with the link, I'm having a weekend in Paris, and not checking email much.. Ever tried using a French format keyboard? The letters are all over the place!!! Thanks to ls for posting it.
But yeah, the idea of doing a split location job didn't really appeal to me, not in DF or in beachy Huatulco. To each their own though...

Hmm. I don't work at that school, but it's just a couple of blocks away from my apartment. I usually eat a meal about once a week in the restaurant in that same building. I've meet the school owner a few times and she seemed pleasant enough to me - but then I haven't had to work with her either.
Moonraven has got me curious now; I guess I'll have to ask 'delacosta' what the scoop is. |

I find that interesting. Lots of EFL teachers here in Merida start out working at more than one school. It seems there's more part-time than full-time work available here, especially for newcomers, and many DOSs try to be somewhat flexible in scheduling to accommodate teachers working for two schools.
The university where I teach has its different colleges scattered all over the city. Although the bulk of EFL classes are taught at College of Education, many university EFL teachers are expected to travel to at least one other campus to teach an EFL class or two as well. It's really not all that bad once a person gets used to it. |
