my idea of getting screwed is not getting my bonus because the jerkheads fired me 2 weeks before the end of my contract (this was in korea when i thought contracts were efl law ) and there was nothing i could do to fight it (ie moral 1 - contracts aren't worth crap)
which is why if i am not getting paid on time why the h#ll should i work for them?
i'm sorry but 2 months is a LONG time without pay buddy (and a lot of money to catch up on) which probably means they are going to keep you on until you quit because they know there ain't nothing you can do about it. (ie moral 2) this in turn leaves you feeling baba's new moral 3. it can be a vicious cycle... |

I mean the Jackie that used to be the Interlang boss, but left about 6(?) months ago.
It was actually more than 2.5 months (and I agree with scot47-- 2.5 months is nothing really, and there are always people you work with who've been around longer, who didn't get paid for awhile but came out ok in the end), but we weren't getting paid nothing the whole time. A little here, a little there as it came in-- enough for rent, utilities, and a little extra for beer and smokes. As I said, Jackie kept promising it would be ok come September enrollment, and, mostly since she was foreign and ostensibly working without pay herself (so she claimed), I believed her (though not sure I do anymore). A lot of teachers cut their losses and left early, and they got nothing. I had a flight bonus waiting, and had worked up quite a bit of overtime covering for the teachers who left (about $1,000 in all), and I really didn't want to bail early and give up that money-- it was more than I'd seen at one time in my life! (I was poor in America so it wasn't such a stretch being poor here, plus I had a bit of savings). As I also said before, everyone assured us that the new owners would take over the debt, and when that appeared to not be happening, they promised us there would be enough money left over from the sale to at least give everyone most of what they were owed.
But it was all a lie and I went in to beg every day while the sale was happening, and when it was over Levent disappeared and we got nothing, and the ET people made it pretty clear we weren't welcome in the building anymore.
Chalk it up to experience-- there's only one way to learn something like this. In retrospect, of course I feel stupid, but I would have felt stupid if I'd bailed early and gotten nothing while other people got paid. Sucks either way and not a whole lot you can do about it... |

Did she leave or was she sacked?
Cracks me up how she used to advertise for teachers-must have a degree yet she didn`t have one herself.

I bet she got paid. Have you confronted her? |

Must be a diferent Jackie-- this one had whatever quals you need to teach state school in England, and she must have had a DELTA since she was a trainer...
We asked her several times if she was getting paid, and she said no, but since she was able to baldly lie about the other stuff, why not that too? I assume she was lying since the money owed to her allegedly was in the 5-digit$$, and why would anyone stay at a job if they knew the school was going under and everyone was going to get screwed?
But I've heard of stranger things. And stranger people.
As far as I heard, she quit because the ET management was so foolish, printing brochures with spelling errors and price plans with math mistakes, giving teachers timetables that conflicted and made no sense, stuff like that among other things... |

Oh it is Jackie H who used to work for The Fast and Yeditepe before and was a trainer and does have the dip and is also a qualified teacher in the uk.
My info is a year old but she and her painter/handyman boyfriend (his name starts with a b but I cannot remember) went to live in Oxford and she got a job as a teacher with some training on the side. Is she really running the place? |

Kind of an end of an era. Here is somebody who was always so gung ho about efl in Istanbul. Someone who loved the efl teacher pot luck parties so much and so fitted the bill. Yet left. |
