Well... I guess you wouldn't have heard about this as it's mostly a Canadian airline, but Jetsgo is a discount carrier here in Canada, mostly flying within the country, and to a few US and international places (like florida and cancun and cuba). This morning, they decided to announce at 8am that they are ceasing operations. All their employees are out of work, and anyone holding a jetsgo ticket (which is a lot of people as it is march break time here) are crap outta luck. Like my friend that is stuck in Cuba with no flight home.... I had booked a ticket a few months back for a wedding I need to go to in Calgary. $410. I now have no ticket, and no $410..... crappy deal. I'm never booking in advance again! The Jetsgo slogan was "Jetsgo, pay a little, fly anywhere" ... i have since changed it to "JetsGONE, pay a little, fly NOWHERE!"
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |

Nasty Jetsgo. I guess I've been away from home for awhile...never heard of them before, and it seems, I never will again.
Northwest Airlines has a decently priced run to Mexico City, through Detroit.. Continental out of Chicago does as well. |

Oh you can bet I'm only using american airlines from now on. I've had it with stupid canadian airlines, always having problems. The ticket in question of mine was for Calgary, not for mexico. My ticket I bought for Mexico City for the first week in may is still good, as it's on an american flight. let's hope it stays good! |

I once got a charter flight to Vancouver from Ottawa, one way for 200 CDN with Canada3000. Are they still around? There was another called Westair I think, that had western flights.
What kind of a price did you get for Mexico City? Flying from where? Last time I went home, I got a multicity flight...Mexico City-Chicago-Toronto, and coming back Montreal-DC-Mexico City, with vacation time in each city, all for $670 usd over the Christmas period. |

well... funnily enough, canada 3000 went outta business a few years ago.. and that dumbass president decided to start another company... called jetsgo. next time im gonna do some research, if the president of the airline was the president of the last one to go outta business, i am not buying anything from them!!!
my flight to mexico city is 720, and thats after all the taxes and cancellation. im not sure if thats a good deal, considering that last time i went, in november for a week, it was 595 after all the taxes. oh well. im going for 9 days this time. it stops in charlotte in the states, but only with a few hours stop over time. i wish i could find something for less, but it just doesnt seem possible. |

Check to see if the province in which you live has protection of the Travel Assurance Fund. It is a government regulated program all travel agencies and tour companies pay into yearly to protect the travelling consumer. When I departed Canada the two provinces with that protection were BC and Ontario but others were considering it. Your travel agency can confirm coverage (or not). Good luck with everything. |

I just did a quick check of news releases on this unfortunate issue. There is good news for you if you live in BC, Ontario, Quebec OR if you paid by credit card.

Credit card companies promised to reimburse cardholders who purchased Jetsgo tickets but were unable to fly. Those who bought tickets through travel agencies in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia were also entitled to refunds.

i paid by credit card... i spoke with visa twice today.. they arent really doing anything for anyone yet. they are gonna try to give back the full amount to everyone, but they cant do it unless jetsgo actually files for bankruptcy.. which they have not.. so i have to just sit and wait. plus, its a family wedding and i wanted to go really bad, got my ticket for 410, which i can afford... now its 600 somethin if i want to rebook it. im really not impressed. |

http://news.airwise.com/story/view/1110537534.html Here's the story. Call your travel or booking agent to help with this too since it may take time for Visa to sort it out. This is a good case to pay for airline tickets on credit cards wherever you travel in the world. Good luck and hope you can soon look forward to your Mexico trip. |
