I do feel tall here! There are some locals who are about the same height as I am, but the vast majority are short. It seems I constantly have to duck under things that are hanging over sidewalks. I usually have to fold myself up to get into bus seats, and if I ride standing up on most buses, I get a stiff neck from having to stoop. It's great for being able to see around in local crowds, however.

My height is 1.86 meters (a hair over 6'1" tall.)

Well, I am 5' 7". My novio is 5' 8". Fine with me, I hate heels.

Speaking of novios. My girlfriends in Venezuela are all about doing the deed pretty quickly in the relationship as part of the "compatability" issue. I was raised differently (mi poor novio) but it does seem that in Venezuela sex is much less of a taboo issue.

Also in both Venezuela and the DR, clandestine love shacks are big business. As well as lingerie shops.

One of the great things about Latin America...lotsa love to go around. People have their priorities straight in this part of the world Razz

Here's a quick poll since someone asked me the other day. In Mexico, two women or a man and a woman will greet each other with a single kiss to the cheek, when they know each other. Is this the same all over Latin America?

Argentina-
Buenos Aires, Cordoba and anything in the Southern half of the country it is one kiss on the check. In much of the north part of the country it is two kisses... one on each check.

Brazil-
I think if I remember right its 3 kisses... correct me if i'm wrong. But I mostly saw 1 kiss in the South.

Maybe this is irrelavant because you asked about how many kisses in Latin America but since the culture of the countries are related to their mother countries maybe it is applicable. Anways I thought that someone might be interested. In Spain you give two kisses. I wonder what it is like in Portugal.

Has anyone ever been to Surinam? Since they are not Hispanic? Do they kiss on the check?

In Montreal and French speaking parts of Quebec it's a kiss on each cheek(also known as the two-cheeked kiss). In English Quebec it's a handshake or a hug. It discombobulates people when they go to kiss your cheek and you throw your arms around them, and even more so when you go to shake hands and get a kiss in the eye because you're not expecting it and don't turn your head.
I imagine North Americans would have the same problem in Latin America.

it�s one kiss in this part of brazil. i am in the state of sao paulo.
i�ve noticed that just about everyone is paired off here. it seems like there are many more single people my age in the US.
also, i feel like most americans, or people from outside brazil in general (even friends of mine from costa rica, england, and france) have this idea that brazilians are the most sensual, beautiful people in the world, and that they�re all great dancers. i can�t tell you how many times i heard that when i told people i was coming here. but the brazilians say that same thing about the italians (minus the dancing part). makes me wonder where you draw the line between talking about certain elements of culture (i would say that it IS true that sex is a more open topic here, and that dancing and music are a bigger part of the culture than in the US) and stereotyping (it�s just silly to say that all brazilians are beautiful or that they�re all good dancers)
