I am currently in Taiwan and looking to get out of here.
Can anyone offer any advice on working for the summer in Mexico?
It doesn't really matter where or the wage as long as I make enough to cover expenses.
Thanks

In this part of the country, summer (July and August) is vacation time. Lots of families travel or spend time at their beach houses. Most regular schools are closed. Enrollment usually drops off at private language schools, some of which offer special tuition rates for the summer months in an attempt to keep things going until fall. Summer teaching jobs are snatched up by teachers who are already working in this area. If you could find a job just for the summer here, it would be difficult to break even financially. Pay is low. Short-term rental -- renting by the week or by the month -- is expensive. The cost of a work visa (now close to 2,000 pesos the first time, I think) is the same whether for 3 months or a year.

Sorry to sound so discouraging. However, the summer job scene may be different in other parts of the country. Maybe some other regular posters will have something more positive for you.

Summer is not so bad for us in Mexico City. A lot of the Korean community sends their children to summer English classes, often doubling up on hours from the regular school year. Generally though, yes, it does slow down a lot for July and August.
