I am not sure what I want to know. But I suppose I want to know what the posters want to know about me.

Out of curiousity I know two of the posters here but reckon I know a few more but of course without names I will never know for sure. I must admit one thing I admire about Molly is the fact that she uses her real name on the board.

well, I stated my name in my first post - Carolyn. There would only be a minute possibility of us knowing each other as I have not been to Turkey yet, and am currently in the States...

How long have you been in Turkey? Where have you lived in Turkey? (Just to get things rolling...)

no, it is not a story at all - but if it helps, my blood type is A-... I was born in Nurnburg, Germany... My family had a schnauzer named Pepper when I was young. I was an only child until I was 7, and then my brother and sister (twins) arrived... I went to High School when "The Breakfast Club" and "Pretty in Pink" were released... My favorite musician is Peter Gabriel... I have lived and traveled all over the US, spent two years in the Peace Corps, and now want to see the whole wide world... I mean, really - you must be a bit more specific about the information that you want...

Maybe it is a British thing but I took it for granted when I said ''tell me your story'' in the context of me being bitter, cynical and always looking at the ''dark'' side of Turkey that ''story'' meant:

where you have worked and lived in Turkey
how you came to end up in Turkey
married to a Turk, why, why not
why you stay
why you don`t leave
have we met, worked at the same places
characters we have known in efl
anecdotes about tefl in Ist
etc.

Of course it doesn`t apply to you.

no, unfortunately I have no history in Turkey... some day I hope to... OK, my story is irrelevant on this thread, but I would love to hear from everyone else! otuz bir, that does not exclude you - stop using excuses to avoid talking about your situation! If you do feel so unhappy in Turkey, why do you stay? or do you just realize that no matter where you live there will be problems, issues, things that make you both happy and crazy? Why not try a new continent?

I've been here since '99, when Efes was TL 250,000 a bottle and the Guardian was TL 350,000. My first salary was 700 million a month, which was quite good, as the Dollar was worth about TL 450,000 at the time.

my first salary in 1992 was 6,000,000 a month. But the owner of the school also owned a bar/restaurant where I ate and drank for free Smile

I've been here since early 1998, when cigarettes were 150,000TL. Can't remember what my salary was then, but I do remember it sure went fast.

A new acquaintance was commenting on how prices must be going up because of inflation, and we old hands kind of rolled our eyes and reminisced about the bad old days of 80-100%. Hope they don't come back.
